About Ben the Illustrator...

Ben O'Brien is a commercial illustrator based in Cornwall, UK, with a background including animating and directing music videos for labels including Sony Japan and Domino Records; Tshirt design; album sleeve design and illustration; editorial illustration for clients including The Guardian and Vice Magazine and advertising campaigns for clients including Smart Cars and Honda.

Ben works alongside his wife, Fiona, who manages their print and product stores, and the ever-popular Speakerdog Paper Toys project. Fiona has previously worked successfully in the advertising industry as studio and account manager for both boutique and major ad agencies in Australia.

Together they operate as a small design agency with Ben's illustrative talent and Fiona's strong project focus, alongside their accumulated creative spirit and pure enjoyment of any job. If you would like to contact Fiona and Ben please email here!

Issue 113 of Computer Arts Projects is a very special 'Illustration Issue' and includes a tutorial by me on creating illustrations using geometric shapes (predominantly in Adobe Illustrator).  The magazine is also packed with wonderful illustration features, tutorials, advice and inspiration.

Smart Car San Jose photo

'The Title' Sleeve Artwork | 11.06.08

Bright young things 'The Title' recently contacted me all the way from Hoboken, New Jersey to ask if I'd create the sleeve design for their debut album 'Making A Scene', and since the music pops with colour, I thought it was only fitting that we collaborate!
